Embroidery is one of the traditional handicrafts that has been part of centuries-old Armenian cultural identity along with carpet weaving, miniature painting, and stone carving. The “Embroidered Illumination” is inspired by these intricately and elaborately produced artifacts typical of Armenian handwork. Prayers of Gregory of Narek, signifying healing and protection, illustrated in a twelfth-century manuscript, a portion of a traditional carpet ornament, and an elaborately embroidered needlework are the inspirations of this design.
This scarf is made of 100% silk.
