honoring Armenian kings.
Levon the Magnificent (Levon II, 1198–1219) was
one of the most prominent kings of the Armenian
Kingdom of Cilicia, under whom the country
experienced remarkable political, economic, and
cultural growth. He strengthened state institutions,
expanded trade with European states, and oversaw
the construction of fortresses, roads, and the
flourishing of the royal capital Sis, transforming it
into a major political hub of the region.
