Artashes I (189 BC to 160 BC), founder of the
Artashesian dynasty, unified the Armenian lands and
established a strong, centralized state. He founded
the capital Artashat, which became a key
commercial and cultural center, and introduced
reforms that strengthened the economy and internal
structures of the kingdom.
